The Collegiate Choir from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill., will perform in six locations throughout Illinois during the 2023 spring concert tour. The IWU Collegiate Choir is composed of students representing the School of Music and other areas of the University, and is dedicated to the performance of the finest sacred and secular choral music spanning six centuries and a variety of languages. Students in the choir are selected by audition and maintain a rigorous rehearsal schedule in preparation for their annual spring concert tour and other engagements throughout the year. The choir has presented concerts in Italy, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Spain, Germany, France, Poland, and South Africa.

After earning a coveted spot in the Music International Grand Prix Solo Competition finals, music education major Lindsay Ring '21 went on to win first place in the competition's Young Adult Winds and Brass category.

The Illinois Weseyan University chapter of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi inducted 23 new members during a ceremony held April 15, 2023, at the Center for Natural Science. The Society is the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Founded in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi inducts approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni annually. The Society has chapters on more than 325 select colleges and universities in the United States, its territories and the Philippines. Membership is by invitation only to the top 10 percent of seniors and graduate students and 7.5 percent of juniors. Faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction also qualify. Dr. William Farrar '71, considered to be one of the nation's foremost experts in cancer care and chief executive officer of The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, delivered the Commencement address.

Geisha Jimenez Williams, a business leader with more than three decades of experience in the energy industry who became the first and, so far, only Latina CEO of a Fortune 200 company, delivered the Commencement address.

Physics major Valeria Viteri-Pflucker '22 has been awarded a 2021 Optics and Photonics Education Scholarship by SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, for her potential contributions to the field of optics, photonics or related field. Through the U.S. Department of Energy's Summer Undergraduate Laboratory Internship, Viteri-Pflucker has been working with Ames Laboratory - a Department of Energy national laboratory in Ames, Iowa - on materials and condensed matter topics under the supervision of Iowa State University Associate Scientist Lin Zhou. Viteri-Pflucker's work involves Lorentz electron microscopy, a form of quantum measurement that uses electron wave interference, for imaging of magnetic topologies relevant to emerging technologies. She currently serves as the vice president of the SPIE Chapter at Illinois Wesleyan.

Senior marketing major Nick Watson '21 (Normal, Illinois) is this year's recipient of the American Marketing Association (AMA)'s Outstanding Marketing Student Award, presented virtually at the 60th annual St. Louis AMA Conference on March 5, in recognition of his academic excellence and contributions to the collegiate marketing community at Illinois Wesleyan University.
